Using Renewable Passwords

The "Set Password Protection" tool allows you to choose to generate ordinary passwords or renewable passwords. Both kinds of passwords are used to unlock protected applications.

Ordinary passwords will unlock an application and once it has been unlocked, the application will remain unlocked indefinitely on that PC.

Renewable passwords allow you to unlock your applications for a specified number of uses, number of days, or number of months. Renewable passwords are only available for these three types of password protection.

Number of Uses Protection

Number of Days Protection

Number of Months Protection

When you use one of these types of password protection, your application will run initially for the specified number of uses, days, or months. Once that has been exceeded, the application will be locked. With the renewable password option, the password will unlock that application only for the specified number of uses, days, or months. After that the application is again locked and must be "renewed" with another new password. Renewable passwords will only enable the application for that specified number of uses, days, or months.

Renewable passwords are very useful if you want to rent or lease your software applications.
