ProInfo File:

This is the file used by the ProtectKit3 to store the protection information. By default it is called "ProInfo32.dll" or "ProInfo64.dll" but may be renamed to conceal that the ProtectKit3 is being used.

In the screenshot of the Set Password Protection tool below, we are using Standard Password Protection with default settings. To start, you click the "Open" button and choose the ProInfo file that you will use to save protection settings. This is shown below in red.

After choosing the ProInfo file where you will save the protection information, you choose the application file you would like to protect. The Set Password Protection tool will embed the protection information in this application. It is this one to one correspondence between the protection information set in the ProInfo file and the protection information embedded in your application that enables protection. For details about embedding the protection information into your Win32(64) application, please see Step #2 in Password Protection: Example For Win32(64) Apps.

After you have chosen the all appropriate protection settings, you can click the Save or the SaveAs buttons. The Save button will save the ProInfo file and protected application file in the locations shown. The SaveAs button will allow you to rename the ProInfo file, which is recommended for increased security.
