The ImageKit10 VCL comes with a variety of sample programs that illustrate many of the features of the ImageKit10 VCL. The quickest way to learn how to use the ImageKit10 VCL is to browse through the sample programs for your development environment. In most cases, functionality that you want to enable in your applications is already illustrated in a sample. Please feel free to copy the code from the samples and use it in your own program.

The sample programs for each supported development container can be found in the "Samples" subfolder contained under the directory in which the ImageKit10VCL was installed.

Note: When using the scan sample, a TWAIN driver is needed.

Installing a TWAIN device driver

When using a scan device such as an image scanner, digital camera, or film scanner, it is first necessary to install this device's "TWAIN driver". Once installed the device can be used. For installation instructions, please refer to that device's manual.

Regarding TWAIN drivers, if the manufacturer's recommended TWAIN driver is only 16bit, there is a converter to 32bit available (TWUNK_32.EXE, TWUNK_16.EXE). For details, contact your scan device manufacturer.

If you experience a decline in resources while you are scanning, please try the following:

1. Update your TWAIN driver to the latest version
2. Update your Twain_32.dll to the latest version
3. Rename the Twunk_32.exe and Twunk_16.exe files

Note that depending on your version of Windows number 2 and number 3 may not apply.

When using a 64 bit TWAIN driver in Windows 64, the TWAINDSM.dll is necessary. If your TWAIN driver installation does not install this file, it is available for download from the Twain.org website.
